Karolyi Tunnel: A Window Underground
Budapest was wearing its winter face that day—cold air, low clouds, the kind of gray that softens the edges of everything. I was cutting through the city on my way to meet a friend visiting from Vienna, moving with that familiar travel-focus: one eye on the map, the other scanning for light.
Lower Garden Snow - New Orleans Painted White
The numbers tell their own story. Across New Orleans, measurements landed between roughly 8 and 10 inches, depending on the neighborhood and the gauge. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration logged the city’s snowiest day on record for the official site (dating to 1948) at about 8.0 inches, while other outlets reported 9.5 inches in Mid‑City and rounded to 10 inches citywide—close enough that many locals started talking about a tie with 1895. Whatever line you prefer, it was historic.
Ciudad Real: The Ghost Terminal
Outside, the runways and service roads stretched out like unfinished sentences. Inside, the terminal held its breath—rows of seats waiting for passengers that never came, polished floors reflecting nothing but the weight of the ceiling.
